Overview
Category

Seven Ponds is located in Monson and Elliotsville Township, ME. There are six primitive designated walk-in tenting spots with fire rings and picnic tables, and two day-use areas with picnic tables. In 2024, construction began on a mountain bike trail network. We currently have approximately 2 miles of beginner level single track trails (as determined by IMBA rating standards), which are accessible from the campsites. The public is welcome to use these trails on foot, snowshoes, mountain bikes, and class 1 ebikes. We have plans to build more trails in the coming years.

Parking:

  • There are two designated day-use parking areas, one at Big Wilson Stream, and one at the Little Wilson Falls trailhead. No overnight parking in these areas.
  • Overflow parking is near the vault toilet.
  • Campsite parking spaces are only for overnight use.
  • No parking along the road.

Day-Use:

  • Open sunrise to sunset.
  • Picnicking: There are two tables, one between the river and the road about 0.1 mile from Elliotsville Rd and one at the Little Wilson Falls trail head.
  • Hiking: Little Wilson Falls Trail connects to the Appalachian Trail.
  • Mountain Biking: Seven Ponds mountain biking trails can be accessed from both day use parking areas. Three miles of purpose-built mountain bike trails are generally 36” + wide. While the first phase of trails are not constructed for adaptive mountain biking, some may be passable. Using the International Mountain Biking Association standards, the trails are green level. Our next phase of trail construction near James Brook will include adaptive-optimized and adaptive-friendly trails as well as accessible parking and facilities.  **Please note there are currently no trail signs on mountain bike trails. Walking is allowed on mountain bike trails.
